2024 SHRM Certification Grant Awarded to a NHRMA Professional

Darrell DelacruzEvery year, SHRM and the SHRM Foundation empower members through grants, scholarships, and awards. Annually, members compete for grants supporting their endeavors to earn the SHRM Certification of CP and SCP. One prestigious honor, the SHRM Certification Grant, recognizes outstanding professionals striving to achieve SHRM’s CP and SCP certifications. In the spotlight for the 2024 Spring Certification Grant is Darrell Delacruz from Alaska, whose journey reflects the commitment and dedication emblematic of SHRM members.

When asked what this grant for professional development means to him, he said,

“Achieving this certification will enhance my professional credibility and expand my career opportunities. This will show my competence in the field and will allow me to demonstrate my commitment to HR Field. Coming from the military to the civilian work world, it’s hard to show employees that I have the competence needed to do the job. This will give me the opportunity to demonstrate my capability through my decisions, actions, and behavior. This will help me increase my knowledge and develop the critical skills needed to excel in a career that is evolving daily.”

Darrell received his bachelor's degree in human resource management from the University of Maryland University College. Remarking on his post-military career, he noted,

“I am committed to continuous learning to excel in my field. My ultimate goal is to advance my career and assist others within the human resource industry by utilizing my knowledge and skills to benefit any organization. Moving forward, I aspire to become an HR consultant and assist individuals in need, such as veterans and those less fortunate, in securing their dream jobs.”

As Darrell is a resident of Alaska, one of the three states comprising NHRMA, we celebrate his recognition and look forward to his continuing service to the HR profession.  Darrell is an Air Force veteran and is an active member of the Anchorage Society of Human Resource Management chapter (ASHRM). He will be participating in a rigorous Certification Preparation course and will sit for the exam later this year. To learn more about him, visit his Linkedin Profile.
